چکیده

In total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC), pulmonary venous blood flow abnormally returns to join the systemic venous tributary or right atrium, and the pulmonary vascular resistance may be elevated if a form of obstruction occurs in this circuit (1). Neonates and infants with obstructed TAPVC can present with severe cyanosis, pulmonary hypertension, and low cardiac output, requiring emergency surgical intervention (2). The most common site of obstruction is the vertical vein at the level of the left pulmonary artery and the left main bronchus in patients with supracardiac TAPVC (1, 3). Immediate relief of the obstruction is required in these patients (3). Because surgicalintervention mortality is high, particularly in patients with obstructed TAPVC, preoperative stabilization by temporarily relieving the obstruction may improve outcomes in this population (3, 4). This case report describes stent implantation as a short-term palliative treatment for obstructed supracardiac TAPVC.

Emergency stenting of vertical vein in a neonate with obstructed supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage.

A late preterm newborn baby presented with respiratory distress and increasing cyanosis within 2 hours of birth. Bedside transthroracic echocardiography showed a critically obstructed vertical vein in a supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPVd). Emergency stenting of the vertical vein was successfully performed at 24 hours of life.

Prenatal diagnoses of an uncommon isolated obstructed supracardiac total anomalous pulmonary venous connection

INTRODUCTION Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection is an uncommon congenital heart disease. Four types are described based on the site of pulmonary venous drainage: supracardiac, cardiac, infradiaphragmathic, and mixed connection. In most cases of supracardiac type, the common venous confluence drains through an ascending left vertical vein into the brachiocephalic vein, right superior ve...

Transcatheter Closure of Partially Ligated Vertical Vein after Surgical Correction of Supracardiac Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection.

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is an anomaly in which the pulmonary veins are directly connected to one of the systemic veins or drain into the right atrium. Management of pulmonary hypertension after the total correction of this congenital cardiac anomaly is very important. Unligation of the vertical vein in the supracardiac type of this anomaly can be a draining pathway f...

The Research on Operation of Obstructed Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection in Neonates

OBJECTIVES Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital heart disease. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of TAPVC repair in neonates, controlling for anatomic subtypes and surgical techniques. METHODS Between 1997 and 2013, 88 patients (median age: 16 days) underwent repair for supracardiac (31), cardiac (18), infracardiac (36), or mixed (3) TAPVC. All the ...

Midterm results after surgical correction of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection

Abstract   Objective: To evaluate the surgical treatment of total anomalous pulmonary venous   connection (TAPVC) and determination of predictors for postoperative death.   Methods: Between 1995 and 2005, 80 patients aged from 1 month to 12 years underwent surgical repair for supracardiac (39), cardiac (34), infracardiac (3) or mixed (4) type of TAPVC. Systemic pulmonary hypertension (PH) in ...
